We’ve all heard the horror stories of girls who failed to wash their makeup brushes. This is why it is recommended you clean your makeup brushes at least once a month, depending on how often you use them. If you only wear makeup on the weekends, once a month is fine. If you put a full face on everyday for work, once a week is more like it.
Many believe washing their brushes regularly will ruin them, and quality makeup brushes seldom come cheap. Thankfully, there are many cheap, brush friendly options.
- Baby Shampoo. Gentle enough for a babies skin, good enough for makeup brushes.
- Olive oil. Many use this to clean off their makeup. This can be a great brush cleaner, too.
- Liquid dish soap. Sounds a little strange, but also very effective in cleaning brushes.
Always make sure to rinse your brushes throughly and in lukewarm water. Also wash each brush twice, as makeup can be stubborn to get out.
