I am loyal to my daily SPF and staying out of the sun (stay away, wrinkles!), so I tend to run on the more fair side of the skin tan spectrum. Which is why I absolutely love bronzers and rely on them for giving me a sun-kissed glow! If I was only allowed to use one makeup item, it would be bronzer. *Tip: I use bronzer as my eyeshadow too! It makes it look super natural!*
1.Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer. This bronzer is one of the most natural color bronzers I’ve come across for my skin tone. Which means I can accidentally over apply without it looking like I have orange streaks throughout my face. For $29, I think you get a good amount of product. Plus, it comes with a small applicator brush you see pictures. I personally like applying this bronzer with a bigger face brush as I like putting it on most of my face and concentrating the product on areas I wish to contour. This stuff is great and also comes in a ‘lite’ shade for those with a lighter skin tone.
2. NARS Bronzing Powder. I often find myself using this bronzer interchangeably with the Benefit Hoola bronzer mentioned before. Another super natural color that is easily buildable for contouring. At $40, this bronzer is a bit on the pricey side. I should also mention that this product has a little shimmer in it, nothing too noticeable but it’s not matte. I can’t help but love the chic simple design of NARS packaging, too. But in terms of quality, I think the Benefit Hoola is just as good and it’s over $10 cheaper.
3. MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. I use the shade ‘Give Me Sun!’. Reasons I like this product; at $33, you get more product than the other bronzers mentioned in this post. So, it lasts forever. I also like the way the bronzer looks on my eyelids when I use it for eyeshadow and the top of my forehead. It can look pretty orange on my skin, which can make it look like a real sun-kissed glow in certain parts of my face (forehead), but unnatural in other places (contour line of cheeks). It’s for that reason, this is my least favorite of the three. It just doesn’t look as natural as the others. MAC does offer this product in other colors, so I’ll have to give those a try to see if any other look more natural on me.
Of the three, the one I would have to recommend is Hoola. It looks the most natural on me and is the cheapest. However, when I am a bit more tan, the NARS bronzer looks a bit better as it is a tad deeper in color than the Hoola. I do really like the MAC bronzer product though, so if you can find a shade that works with your skin tone, you definitely get the most bang for your buck here.
