I’ve never been a huge foundation girl. Most that I’ve tried have broken me out or feel far too cakey to leave on long. That’s why I’ve dedicated a lot of time and money in search of quality coverage powders.
- MAC Studio Sculpt Defining Powder. This powder costs $33 and lasts a while depending on how much you use when applying. I’ve noticed a lot of MAC powders tend to break me out after wearing them for a night out. This powder was no exception. It was also hard to build converge without it looking over-the-top cakey. I like to use more medium coverage powders for days I don’t want anything too heavy on my face. But, I also want the ability to build coverage.
- Sephora Matte Perfection Powder Foundation. This powder was my holy grail for a while. It doesn’t break me out, you can build on coverage, and it only costs $20! The only downside is there is not a lot of product. I would run through this stuff pretty quick, which made that price seem less appealing. It does come with a sponge applicator which made this the perfect powder to throw in your bag for easy touch ups on the go! h
- Ulta Pressed Setting Powder. Saved the best for last! This powder is the lightest coverage of the others, and only so-so for building up, but, I can sleep in this stuff
and not break out. Since it is lighter coverage, I’ll use dabs of concealer for problem areas when I need a little more coverage. This powder costs only $10, making it great for your skin and your wallet. One downside is it does only come in five shades so you may get unlucky if
your skin tone doesn’t match up with the colored shades. The translucent shade may be your go too if this is the case for you.
Of the three, the last two are what I would recommend. Thankfully, they are also the most affordable. I do want to mention that I’ve tried drugstore powders and have not found any that don’t break me out. If you know of any other great powders, please comment them down below so I can give them a try!
